6 Tips For Taking Care Of Your Skin In Winter

We’d all like to have radiant, smooth skin all year round but as the colder months approach our skin can become dry and dehydrated for a number of reasons.

The warmer, more humid weather of spring and summer combined with increased fluid intake and more time spent in the fresh air means that our skin is generally more hydrated.  During winter, when we are often less active, spending more time indoors in artificially heated environments, our skin can become dry and flaky.

The indulgencies of the party season on top of this can leave skin feeling even more dull, neglected and in need of some pampering!

Here are a few hints and tips for keeping your skin in peak condition this winter.

1.  Moisturise
This may sound obvious but some people don’t always remember to moisturise!  Regular use of a good moisturiser can really help to keep your skin hydrated.  There are so many to choose from and it can be difficult to know which is the most suitable.
Cleo’s probiotic facial skincare range is unique in that it actually feeds the skin with healthy bacteria. Not only does our digestive system need the right quantities of healthy bacteria, our skin needs it too.  Our skin protects our organs from invading pathogens from the environment and the right amount of probiotic bacteria in our skin helps it to do this whilst also keeping the skin supple and healthy. Cleo’s facial skincare products help to maintain the correct balance of healthy bacteria.
         2.  Eat A Healthy Diet Rich In Vegetables And Fruits

A poor diet lacking essential vitamins and minerals will show signs such as flaky skin.  General tips for healthy eating include important vitamins such as A, C, D and E.  These can be found in a range of fruits and vegetables such as dark leafy greens (vitamins A & C), carrots (vitamin A), Kiwi fruit, peppers and berries (vitamin C) and avocados (Vitamin E).
         3.  Exfoliate

Dry skin can also be a build-up of dead skin cells which hinders the skin from ridding your body of toxins.  Gentle exfoliation can help to shed these dead skin cells resulting in a more hydrated and youthful complexion.  However, it’s important not to exfoliate too vigorously because too harsh a treatment can remove some of the skin’s protective barrier.  Cleo Q Probiotic Skin Sheer Radiance Polish is a non-abrasive & wonderfully light way to exfoliate, unclog pores and brighten the complexion.  The co-fermentation process gently sloughs off dead skin cells that dull the complexion, stabilising the skin’s surface.

          4.  Choose A Good Cleanser

Finding a good cleanser that doesn’t pull the moisture from your skin is essential to keeping your skin hydrated during winter.  The patented co-fermentation process of Cleo’s Probiotic Deep Cleansing Mousse enables it to cleanse deep into pores retaining the skin’s balance and preventing moisture loss.
Rich in natural ingredients including amino acids, peptides, probiotics and lactic acids, Cleo’s Probiotic Foam Cleanser is a unique mineral and herbal formula which helps to retain the skin’s elasticity and luminosity.

          5.  Drink Plenty Of Water

Drinking plenty of water is an excellent way of keeping the skin hydrated and radiant during the winter months.  If you want to jazz up the taste simply add a slice of lemon or cucumber.  Or instead of cold water, try cooled water from the kettle – it’ll warm you up and cleanse your system too.
          6.  Include Cloth Face Masks In Your Skincare Routine

Soaked in a blend of skin-beneficial ingredients, these masks come wrapped individually and are so easy to use.  The application of a cloth mask creates humidity and warmth between the mask and your skin allowing for better penetration of ingredients. Used once a week, they can be an excellent addition to your regular skincare routine. Cleo offer a variety of masks, each type containing a different combination of herbal and anti-ageing ingredients to leave you feeling like you just stepped out of a salon.
Cleo customers really love our probiotic skincare range. Here’s what some of them say.
Cleo Q Probiotic EGF Nourishing Crème 45g £29.95

This is my favourite moisturiser

POSTED BY MARCIA ON 28TH OCT 2013
It glides on and sinks into your skin as opposed to sitting on top of it as many creams do. It really nourishes your skin and keeps it very soft. Only a small drop is necessary and it, therefore, lasts a long time. The price is fabulous value too. I love it; it’s light but very nourishing and it really does make a difference to your skin.

Cleo Q Probiotic Deep Cleansing Mousse 150ml  £14.95

I love it too!

POSTED BY GINA MCCULLOGH ON 3RD DEC 2013
Lovely facial wash, one squirt foams up into a really nice, soft lather which does the whole face & neck, so this large bottle lasts months – great value.

It has a mild pleasant scent and I find it much better to use than soap or regular cleanser that you have to apply with cotton wool as they leave my skin feeling a bit dry.

This doesn’t...it's brilliant
